Learn more about our holistic substance use and dual diagnosis recovery programming

Heart Rock Recovery Center provides subsidized housing and mental health services to pregnant and parenting women ages 18+ with a history of substance use disorder or dual diagnosis. Keep reading to learn more about our programs for women in recovery.

Heart Rock Recovery Center is a long-term sober living community for current and expecting mothers. We provide 12 to 18 months of affordable housing to pregnant and parenting women recovering from substance use and offer financial assistance proportional to their level of need. To learn more about financing your stay, please contact us via email at contact@heartrockrecovery.org.

Unlike many other recovery centers in the state of Indiana, we also allow children under the age of 2 to live together with their mothers. As part of your stay, we offer complimentary childcare onsite for mothers participating in our programming, which includes individual therapy, 12-step meetings, training and education, and holistic wellness.

Mental health services

At Heart Rock, we recognize that drug and alcohol rehabilitation or detox is only the first step in healing from substance misuse. Many of the women we see also have a dual diagnosis of depression or anxiety and/or a history of trauma. That’s why we offer personalized mental health services to our residents, including individual therapy led by our compassionate clinical mental health partners. Our clinicians use an eclectic, trauma-informed approach that draws on evidence-based mental health treatment for substance use disorder, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma therapy (narrative therapy), as well as holistic and spiritual wellness practices.

We also offer structured support groups using the 12-Step Model coined by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). The 12-Step Model is a peer-led, community-based intervention for substance misuse that has proven positive outcomes, including increased engagement with treatment and decreased use of substances (Donovan et. al. 2013). Mothers participating in 12-Step meetings onsite may take advantage of our complimentary childcare services, allowing them the peace of mind that their children are being taken care of while they focus on maintaining their sobriety and recovery.

Training & education

During your stay at Heart Rock, we will help you to develop the vocational skills you need to continue being successful after you leave our recovery center. In addition to our recovery-oriented programming, we also offer career services, including career counseling, to Heart Rock residents. Career services are also woven into case management at Heart Rock Recovery Center. If you are currently unemployed, your case manager will also serve as a resource to help you develop your vocational skills and find a job that meets your needs.

We understand that substance use disorder does not develop in isolation – and that many times, personal difficulties such as financial challenges contribute to mental health issues. For this reason, we offer financial literacy education to every Heart Rock resident to ensure they stay out of the difficult situations that led to their struggles with substance use. Our educational programming will teach you how to manage your money and set yourself up for success after your stay at our recovery center.

Holistic Wellness

At Heart Rock, we take a whole-person approach to healing from substance use issues and dual diagnosis. In addition to traditional methods, such as individual counseling and group therapy, we also offer holistic wellness services like nutritional counseling in order to address every part of your well-being – including the mind, body, and spirit. For residents accepted into our housing program, these services are included in your stay at no additional cost to you.
